Selling your house - curb appeal

As always first impression makes a winner. It could by an impeccable finished interior but if a home doesn’t present well from the outside it might be difficult to convince buyer to take a look inside. Last thing that a Realtor® wants to hear from a buyer during round of showings is: “Don’t even bother stopping by”.

To help yourself with front and backyard refreshment make a list of problem areas. If you can see it so can buyers.
  • Mow and water the lawn. Nothing kills a deal like a look of dead flowers or grass.
  • Trim tree limbs touching the home’s roof, walls, eavesdrops.
  • Power wash driveway or paint it with sealer if needed.
  • Use a stone enhancer for a wet look of an interlocking pathways.
  • Door handle is a first thing buyer will touch in your home. Think about replacement if needed.
  • Consider replacing a glass insert if door looks dated.
  • Clean windows. Inside and out.
  • Stow away all unnecessary tools, trailers and containers.
  • Plant some fresh flowers by the entrance.
  • Use mulch or river rocks around tree trunk.
  • Install planters.
  • In winter remove snow and spread some salt.

Don’t forget about evening curb appeal.
  • Use low voltage lights along driveway and entry path.
  • Turn on outside lights.
